SHIFT Mural Initiative

Highlandtown Arts District - Baltimore, Maryland

June 2015

I project directed and curated Shift Mural Initiative in June 2015 in collaboration with Highlandtown Community Association. The project included artists from Washington DC and Baltimore Maryland. Myself, Pablo Machioli, Ernest Shaw, Justin Nethercut, Cita Sadeli, and Rico MasPas created murals that activated the dull space in order to deter crime and make it feel welcoming for families to grow their vegetables.

Articulate:Baltimore Mural Initative

Bromo Arts District - Baltimore, Maryland

October 2012

Articulate: Baltimore, co-curated by Maryland-based artists Stefan Ways and Jesse James, is a public art initiative aimed at activating vacant space and integrating buildings, people, and culture along North Howard where it intersects with West Franklin and West Mulberry Streets. The project has transformed the experience that pedestrians, light-rail and bicycle riders, and drivers have as they arrive in or pass through this critical gateway to the newly designated Bromo Tower Arts & Entertainment District. From October 10th to November 7th Articulate: Baltimore enlisted a group of established and emerging artists from Baltimore and beyond to lift 7 select properties in the surrounding 300 to 600 blocks of North Howard out of the blight that developed there as commercial and residential tenants abandoned this formerly vibrant area of the city.
